OK, that came up in the comments, and it's gonna get used a lot!

We are racing! We've already blasted through our first flight of Stretch Goal targets. Let's see if we an uncover another batch...

A reminder, all [DRAGON] goals will automatically be added to backers receiving the Scion: Dragon PDF if we unlock that goal. All [Mythos] goals will automatically be added to backers receiving the Scion: Masks of the Mythos PDF.  And [ALL BACKERS] goals will present opportunities that any backer can take advantage of!

[DRAGON] At $55,000 funding – Scion: Dragon Ready-Made Characters – A trio of pre-created Scion: Dragon characters will be created, ready for immediate play or to serve as examples, will be created and released in a supplemental Scion: Dragon Ready-Made Characters PDF, which will be added to the rewards list of all backers receiving the Scion: Dragon PDF.

[MYTHOS] At $60,000 funding – Scion: Masks of the Mythos Companion – Great Old Ones – Two additional Great Old Ones from the Mythos pantheon will be included in the Scion: Masks of the Mythos Companion PDF.

[ALL BACKERS] At $65,000 funding – New Add On: Scion: Masks of the Mythos Reference Screen – We’ll create a Scion: Masks of the Mythos Reference Screen with Scion: Masks of the Mythos artwork on the outside, and useful Scion Second Edition charts and tables on the inside to make running the game a little easier. This can be added to any reward tier containing a hardcover book for only +$20.

At this time, before either of the screens is developed, I can't tell you that the inside charts will have any differences. In fact, they may just be art-updated versions of the previous Scion Second Edition charts, since both of these books are based on the Origin/Hero rules. But don't quote me on that... if the developers think that charts need to be updated, they will be. That'll be determined as these projects progress along the development track.

BUT - I can for sure say that the artwork will reflect these new games, with Dragon art on the Scion: Dragon screen and Mythos art on the Scion: Masks of the Mythos screen. And, coming from someone who has multiple referee screens and switches them out based on the art, that's a good thing!

Let's keep it rolling and see if we can't add a few more Stretch Goals to our Dragon horde (or cultist library?)

I knew there's be double the excitement with these two books for Scion Second Edition, but it seems there was double-double the excitement! And that's not just a Canadian coffee joke! It's my way of saying that...

This project has funded!

Thanks to your support, Onyx Path will be able to develop and create these two new beautiful books, Scion: Masks of the Mythos and Scion: Dragon, opening up new story possibilities for your Scion Second Edition game!

Now that we've accomplished our primary goal and will be making these projects a reality, it's time to look at what we might be able to do with some additional funding! That's right... Stretch Goal time!

As we increase the overall funding and support for the project, we’re able to add additional resources to the project, expand the rewards listed, and add in new offers and opportunities. Each Stretch Goal will have a target that, once reached, will add a project to the reward list. We will continue to build on this list when we achieve these targets during the campaign. Whenever we achieve a stretch goal, the image will be updated to reflect the achievement.

With two different books part of this campaign, that means there are two different streams for Stretch Goals! Actually, there are three different kinds of Stretch Goals with this one...

[DRAGON] Stretch Goals - all backers receiving the Scion: Dragon book (PDF or hardcover) will have any unlocked [DRAGON] Stretch Goals automatically added to their rewards list.

[MYTHOS] Stretch Goals - all backers receiving the Scion: Masks of the Mythos book (PDF or hardcover) will have any unlocked [MYTHOS] Stretch Goals automatically added to their rewards list.

And, a third kind of stretch goal - [ALL BACKERS] will present new opportunities for all backers, and maybe even new rewards that will be added to the rewards list for all backers of this campaign. See individual Stretch Goal listings for additional details.

So, with that said, let's look at a round of Stretch Goals!

[DRAGON] At $40,000 funding – Scion: Dragon Companion – Creating Your Own Dragon Flight – Guidelines and systems for creating your own Dragon Flight will be created and released in a supplemental Scion: Dragon Companion PDF, which will be added to the rewards list of all backers receiving the Scion: Dragon PDF.

[MYTHOS] At $45,000 funding – Scion: Masks of the Mythos Companion – Additional Mythos Creatures – A trio of additional adversaries will be created and released in a supplemental Scion: Masks of the Mythos Companion PDF, which will be added to the rewards list of all backers receiving the Scion: Masks of the Mythos PDF.

[ALL BACKERS] At $50,000 funding – New Add On: Scion: Dragon Reference Screen – We’ll create a Scion: Dragon Reference Screen with Scion: Dragon artwork on the outside, and useful Scion Second Edition charts and tables on the inside to make running the game a little easier. This can be added to any reward tier containing a hardcover book for only +$20.

Make sense? Clear as mud? Basically, if you're here for Scion: Dragon only, you will get the Scion: Dragon related rewards and opportunities. If you're only interested in Scion: Masks of the Mythos, you'll be getting the Masks of the Mythos-related rewards and opportunities. And if you're like me and want both books, everything will be open to you.

And with that, I can finally update my avatar to something a little more campaign appropriate...

Welcome to this exciting kickstarter, where we’ll work together to help fund the creation and development of two brand new pathways for our Scion Second Edition characters to explore.

Since this Scion Second Edition kickstarter campaign will be funding two books at the same time, I wanted to layout some structure and provide some information up front to help everyone (and mostly me!) understand what we’re working on here and how we’re going to go about it.

First off, I’m James, your humble Kickstarter Concierge for this project. I’ll be your point person during this campaign, providing information, sharing updates, helping to find the answers to questions, and generally managing the day-to-day bits so the real brains – the Onyx Path creative team – can continue to work on their awesome projects while this campaign is running.

Since we’re looking at two different books under the same umbrella here, and there are a bunch of options on how you can approach supporting this campaign, let’s talk about what this campaign is, and what this campaign isn’t.

This Campaign Is – a chance to expand the stories we can tell with the Scion Second Edition tabletop roleplaying game with two new pathways to take us into new and different territory. Though I’ve noted we’re working on two books with this one campaign, and backers are able to choose either or both as part of their pledge rewards, we’re all working toward one goal – new content for Scion Second Edition.

This Campaign Is Not – a rivalry between these two books or a competition for resources. They’re both part of the same goal, and though some backers may only want to add one of them to their gaming library, funding and further developing these books and settings are parts of the same goal.

There is no favorite child here, I love them both equally. And supporting this campaign helps both books expand the World of Scion, and hopefully will help us explore both paths even further.

A rising tide floats all boats, in other words.

I’m getting that all out up front because lately there’s a push to become more partisan in this world and to divide up into tribes working against one another.

If you back this campaign, you’re all part of one group – those who want to expand the World of Scion Second Edition, adding new options, new story pathways, and directions to explore.

If you’re not backing this campaign, you may be in the other group – the group that is perfectly content with Scion Second Edition as it stands now, or as it’s set to progress. And that’s absolutely understandable and hard to argue against!

So, no antagonism here! But over the next 30 days, I will share bits of this project and hopefully our excitement and enthusiasm will entice some from the “currently content” group to join us on our mission.

We’re going to ping pong back and forth between sharing Scion: Dragon and Scion: Masks of the Mythos information over the course of this campaign. To try to add some order to the chaos, here’s a quick plan overview:

DRAGON DAYS – On Tuesdays, we’ll be sharing a portion of the Kickstarter Preview Manuscript for Scion: Dragon.  On Thursdays and Saturdays, we’ll be looking at other bits from this book and sharing more information about the drive behind its’ creation. So, if you’re only interested in the Scion: Dragonhalf of this project, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays are your Dragon Days.

MYTHOS DAYS – On Fridays, we’ll be sharing a portion of the Kickstarter Preview Manuscript for Scion: Masks of the Mythos. On Mondays and Wednesdays, we’ll be sharing previews, stories, and discussions about the creation of this book. So, if you’re only interested in the Scion: Masks of the Mythos half of this project, then Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are your Mythos Days.

And, as noted in both descriptions, we’ll be sharing a portion of the manuscript for each project every week during this campaign. That means, before this campaign ends and your pledge is collected, you will be able to read the ENTIRE MANUSCRIPT for both books in their current form!

And, if you’re one of those in the “currently content with Scion, but curious” camp, pledging to this project now will open up these manuscript previews so you’ll be able to see what all the fuss is about… and maybe join in with us!

With that all said, maybe I’ve introduced a plan that I’ll try to stick with, a chance at some order as we bounce between Dragons and Old Ones for 30 days. So, let’s work together and see if we can’t help take Scion Second Edition into a couple new and exciting directions!
